Translation Is Only Half the Job
A multilingual site fails when visitors cannot find, read or trust the translated version. Accessibility and localisation share the same goal: remove every barrier between the visitor and the message.
Make switching effortless
Put the language switcher in the header on every page, label each option in its own language, and remember the visitor's choice. Never redirect by IP alone — travellers and expats will thank you.
Design for text expansion
German runs a third longer than English; Arabic reads right to left. Flexible layouts, mirrored navigation and fonts that cover every script keep all versions equally usable.
Tell search engines what's what
Correct lang attributes and hreflang tags send each visitor to the right version and stop translated pages competing with each other in results.
